I hope that my clients take away the experience of having a safe space. A space where they felt supported and acknowledged. This feeling is a strong feeling and I would want my clients to go back with this feeling.
I provide the client substantial time and space to let out their concerns and feelings. Then, the process of goal setting is facilitated collaboratively where the client has a say. The therapeutic modality is then chosen based on the needs, preferences, & goals of the client which are best suited for them. These modalities are revisable as regular feedback is sought from the client.
My greatest learning has been to not judge anyone from their looks or the surface level. There are so many layers to each individual out there that makes it essential to stay open minded, flexible, and explorative throughout the therapeutic process.
In therapy, my aim is to understand your patterns deeply. I try to make sense of your thoughts, feelings, & behaviour in order to check if they are helpful or healthy. Unhelpful and unhealthy patterns are then replaced with healthier patterns in order to lead a meaningful life. Alongside, a supportive stance is taken up throughout the therapy.
Taking care of the appropriate pronouns, acknowledging their struggles of being secluded and not accepted, & extending empathy as well as unconditional positive regard is highly important to build the therapeutic alliance and in making them feel accepted.
