  • What Is Empowered Empaths (Narcissistic Abuse Support Group) About?

Narcissism is a hidden pandemic in rise! This group is for Empaths who tend to get caught up in a make-believe world of a Narcissist much like a moth to the flame and endure what is known as Narcissistic Abuse! Narcissistic Abuse can only be understood when experienced- Due to the manipulative nature of narcissistic abuse, therapists may also miss the mark. Therapists often suggest bettering communication patterns; managing anxiety and healing attachment styles to clients who report feeling confused, inadequate, invalidated, “on a roller coaster of emotions” and lack of ‘genuine’ affection in their relationships. However these clients could be undergoing Narcissistic Abuse.

This Support Group endeavours to shed light on Narcissism and let the Survivors know that we Believe You! You are NOT crazy! It is NOT your fault! Your Empathy is to be Empowered NOT Exploited!

  • What is your founding story?

This group is special- it was always in making and I am only a medium! I have painstakingly experienced the abuse a Narcissist can inhumanely mete out to their Victims and have fortunately been able to heal from the ’trauma bond’ and identity-erasure it caused to now being able to help my clients take the same journey in our one-on-one sessions, with a complete understanding of the stages they will go through while coming back to themselves! Despite being a Psychotherapist, exposure to Narcissism in real life opened a whole new world which one could have never believed can exist because it so dark with several illusions of light which can keep one caught up in the maze!

Figuring my way out of the maze made me experience reality, life and self differently and I began to see the larger scheme of things. My career saw a major shift post my healing wherein I was coincidentally being sought by clients wanting to improve their toxic relationships which turned out to be Narcissistic! A common narrative in them all was- “Can a person really do this to the other? is this only happening to me because I am not good enough? What do I need to change to be loved? why me?” This is when I knew that I have to bring my amazing Empaths together for them to know- IT IS NOT YOU & YOU DESERVE THE BEST!

  • When was your support group founded? How has the journey been since then?
The Support Group was Founded in August, 2022 so we are just opening our eyes to the world and theirs to us! It turns out that this is India’s First Support Group for Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse by a Psychotherapist!
  • Who is your support group for?
    Individuals Navigating/Surviving Narcissistic Abuse
  • Explain your group's approach towards helping a person's mental health care.

Since Narcissistic Abuse is very isolating and confusing, healing will automatically happen when all survivors will come together and receive answers which will help them validate and make meaning of their experiences!

The group hopes to foster Radical Acceptance of what is, so that the Empaths take charge of their lives & Reclaim their Identity. The Support group also intends to actively psycho-educate/share resources and open the space for everyone to share coping techniques in order for the participants to start/continue their respective Healing Journey(s).

  • What is your group's approach towards professional mental health care interventions?
We are cognisant that the Support Group is dealing with a sensitive issue and there can be possibilities of triggers thus, we request the participants to see a therapist and they are given the option for referrals and resources such as helpline numbers to contain anything that may surface during meet ups and may need attention. They shall also receive the assistance from a crisis-interventionist of Sneh Therapy and access to the facilitator (Snehal Saraf) outside the sessions as well, if needed!
  • What conversations is your support group not equipped to support?
Support Group can be an integral part of the healing journey but not a substitute to therapy. Each participant will mandatorily require to have a therapist for themselves who is trained in addressing abusive relationships/ Narcissism and Trauma in order to help the participants process the emotional material that may come up for them during Support Group.
  • How does one sign up? What’s the coordination process like?

The Group will operate Online via Video Call over Gmeet.

To Sign up, please fill the form. If the group will have space for new participants, Sneh Therapy will reach out to help you join or we shall inform you that you are on the waiting list.
