In my early teens I was really curious to understand what mental health and mental health support meant. Over the years reading and hearing experiences of people’s mental health journeys drew me to becoming a counsellor, with the hope to make mental health more accessible in my own little way.
Therapy is a collaborative process and requires commitment. So let’s take it one session at at a time. Therapy is not instructional, so feel free to articulate your thoughts, feelings and preferred ways of doing things.
To engage in collaborative dialogue with the client. To hope the client experiences control over their own hopes, dreams, skills and know-hows. To have a well- established and friendly rapport with clients, but also respecting boundaries of the client-therapist relationship.
A therapeutic approach that centres people as the experts of their own lives. An approach that respects people’s identities, and views the person separately from the problem. A medium to explore skills to support in problem - solving.
