Counselling is my calling. As a survivor of complex trauma, I spent my early years trying to make sense of my lived experiences and their impact. I searched for someone or something that could name, acknowledge, and really understand what I was going through. Psychology paved the way forward for that. I chose to be a counsellor to co-create and hold space with clients - where you feel free to show up as you are, your experiences are honored, and we work together to navigate what feels tough with care, while tapping into your strengths.
What I cherish most about this work is the meeting it allows. It is an honor to witness clients’ journeys as they move toward what they truly need and how to offer that to themselves. I also find the self-work this field demands deeply rewarding.
After the first session, I hope clients leave with a sense of safety - knowing they have been seen and heard, don’t have to figure it all out alone, and can have therapy be a source of support.
It doesn’t have to get really bad for you to seek support. A counsellor’s role is to meet you where you’re at, however it is for you. Trust yourself when it comes to choosing a professional - feeling safe with them is important. Therapy is a process, and having a strong therapeutic relationship can make all the difference along the way.
In my view, the therapist-client relationship is collaborative. I focus on listening carefully, inviting regular feedback, and ensuring clients feel comfortable. I ask for permission before offering insights or introducing tools. I seek to stay attuned - stepping in with structure when things feel overwhelming or creating more space when needed - so that the process really feels like something we’re shaping together.
We have an inherent capacity to heal and grow!
I think my biggest strength as a counsellor is my humanistic approach - an active commitment to being empathetic, genuine, and showing up with unconditional positive regard for clients. I also bring in resources - whether that’s connecting clients to support spaces or other professionals - tailored to their needs. I work with the awareness that therapy is one part of their larger support system.
I read, try different types of tea/coffee, watch TV shows, hang out with friends and family, and nap.
My approach is need-based, integrating client-centered and trauma-informed principles. I seek to meet clients where they are at - whether that’s through thoughts, emotions, behaviour, or the body - each offering a doorway into what might be needed. I bring an understanding of how stressful and/or traumatic experiences impact both the mind and body. Together, we explore nervous system patterns, different parts of you, and the ways early experiences shape your relationship with yourself and others - all while keeping in mind the larger systems you live in and the strengths you carry. I also take a neurodivergence-affirming approach, offering tools and accommodations that are respectful of and tailored to each client’s way of experiencing and engaging with the world.
I am deeply committed to honoring and validating the identities, experiences, and needs of queer and trans folx. I remain mindful of the privilege I hold, both within and outside the therapy room. Addressing systemic inequalities, being open to feedback, and engaging in ongoing processes of learning and unlearning are central to my practice. I actively engage in continued education. I seek to stay updated on best practices and evolving terminology. I also deepen my understanding of lived experiences through literature, media, research, workshops, and conversations with friends. I also prioritize regularly examining my own social conditioning through therapy and supervision.
We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. - John Green

We've developed a curation process over 7+ years, which allows us to carefully curate each inclusive and affirming mental health provider listed on our platform.
We have come a long way since we started in 2018, and have been adapting our curation process every day. From the time a therapist or support group reaches out to us, it takes about 1 - 2 months to complete the process.
We launched TheMindClan.com because we know firsthand how challenging it can be to find support for ourselves and our loved ones. We know that experiences of neurodivergence (like dyslexia, ADHD, autism, etc), or being from a marginalized community (LGBTQIA+, etc), can make it especially challenging to find support.
We understand the overwhelming feeling of scrolling through endless lists, wondering whom to trust, and not knowing what to expect.
If you appreciate our mission of making mental health care accessible and inclusive, and would love to bring this to your organization or collaborate with us, we'd be delighted to hear from you!
