Roots and Routes is a group for individuals between 18-30 years old who are new to Bombay or have been struggling to find their space in the city.
This group is intended to bring together individuals navigating the challenges of transitioning to life in Bombay, providing a space to connect and make meaning of this experience. It’s an in person group for folks in Bombay navigating feeling at home away from home. We hope to provide support for those new to Bombay, navigating relocation, and adapting to a fast-paced life, a new culture, and new roles. We’ll focus on co-creating a community where we make space for feelings of loneliness, isolation, fear, excitement and more as we work towards integrating into the group and the city.
We meet on alternate Saturdays for 6 sessions. The themes have been broadly categorized as: 1st session - Introduction and Grounding; 2nd and 3rd session: New Bud in the City; 4th and 5th session: Connecting the Journeys; 6th session: Mapping Out.
Each session will start with a check in, we will be then sharing some prompts for us to dive into our experience, share any associations that you may have, hold space for other’s stories. There is no pressure to engage in the group verbally and you may choose to participate in ways that feel most intuitive to you. We can also use this space to share resources, tips, or any hand holding for members if they’re open to receiving it. We end each session by checking out.
Please be mindful that this is not a therapy group or a replacement for therapy. We’re also not equipped to handle crisis. While we cannot offer direct support for such issues, we can guide you to other appropriate resources.
