Umar Khan is a trained Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist with an M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from NIMHANS and a Master’s in Applied Psychology from Jamia Millia Islamia. He currently works in private practice offering online psychotherapy and also serves as an Adjunct Faculty at Gurugram University. His professional journey includes work across clinical, research, and rehabilitation settings, including roles as a Senior Research Fellow at AIIMS, New Delhi, and as a Clinical Psychologist at a de-addiction and rehabilitation centre.
Umar’s work with addictive and compulsive behaviours is grounded in a collaborative and evidence-based approach. He understands concerns such as compulsive pornography use not simply as habits to be controlled, but as coping patterns often linked to shame, stress, loneliness, and challenges with intimacy and relationships. His experience includes motivational work, relapse prevention, and helping individuals clarify personal values to move toward more meaningful, relationally healthier lives. Umar finds group spaces especially powerful for fostering accountability, reducing isolation, and creating honest dialogue that supports sustainable change.
