We live in a world where we are constantly expected to do tasks, and go from one thing to another. We might start living almost in autopilot mode without being fully present to our emotional and bodily experience of life. We might find these expectations living within us that make it hard for us to be compassionate to ourselves. Do you feel it’s easier to be kinder to loved one’s than it is to be kind to oneself?
Self compassion allows us to make mistakes, be less judgmental and let go of the perfectionist voice in our mind. Self-compassion is a way of relating to ourselves kindly, and embracing ourselves as we are. Arts based therapy can be a powerful way of practicing mindful self-compassion by getting to know ourselves, connecting to others and enabling healing.
