Can you share some details about your journey of choosing to work in the field of mental health with us?I loved social psychology and cognitive psychology during my undergraduate degree and happened to stumble onto clinical psychology. As I have evolved as a professional over the past few years, I have expanded my focus from psychodiagnostics and psychometric assessment to therapeutic interventions, psychosocial interventions, trainings, and research.

Tell us a bit about the kind of events on mental health that you facilitate.Trainings for other professionals on psychometric assessments, therapeutic approaches, conducting a support group for women survivor’s of violence, a support group for the LGBTQIA+ community.

What excites you about your work as a facilitator?To see the kind of change group work brings about.

How do you think group interactions are helpful in addressing mental health and self-care for an individual?Group interactions help increase knowledge, provide a diverse feedback, and help to formulate collaborative solutions.

In your work as a facilitator so far, what has been your greatest learning from your interactions with participants?Most participants just need the kind of support and guidance and are capable of implementing long term changes in their lives. One need not develop a God complex when working in this field. Something that I see a lot of professionals developing, sadly.

What are some of your strengths as a facilitator that you value and appreciate?My ability to communicate and listen when required, to maintain group boundaries and rules, to respect everyone’s viewpoint and opinions.
