Navigating a parent’s cancer journey can feel confusing and isolating. We’re creating a space for adult children of parents with cancer to connect, share experiences, and navigate the emotions and changes that come with this journey—personally, in relationships, and in the world around us.
Sessions: This is a closed support group for 6-7 participants held over 8 sessions which will be held twice a month, every alternate Saturday, tentatively starting: 12th April, 26th April, 10th May, 24th May, 7th June, 21st June, 5th July, 19th July . All sessions will be held online.
What to expect: We are aiming to create a space to explore and share personal experiences, relationships, and the larger societal impact of being an adult whose parent has cancer. This includes how it affects your emotions, connections with others, and the challenges that come from navigating a world that may not always understand this experience. (Some areas we are hoping to hold space for: self care, burnout, identity, isolation and more). Our support groups will utilise a number of modalities in addition to sharing experiences verbally like photography, art, narratives, stories, children’s books, etc.
Through sharing space, conversations, emotions, silences, creativity—whatever comes up—we’ll hold space for self-care, burnout that may come with this experience, and the realities of navigating a world that may not always understand. It’s also about reconnecting with ourselves, forming connections, and maybe even finding moments of fun together.
